We love flowers year-round, but floral decor really blossoms in the springtime! There are so many ways to enjoy some fresh blooms, whether you purchased a bouquet from a local florist or picked your own wildflowers. We recently shared some of our recommendations regarding local shops to prowl when looking for a vase-full of beauties that speak to you and your home.
This week, we’re hoping to spark some new ideas on how to make the most of your new focal piece, even beyond its usual expiration date!
A Fresh Bouquet

The simplest way to spring up your space with flowers is by placing a bouquet somewhere in your home. This could be your kitchen counter, dining room table, a shelf in your living space, or anywhere else that feels right! You also don’t necessarily need an entire bouquet; a single stem could also do the trick, especially for livening up a smaller space.
Flower Pressing

Love flowers, but always feel sad to see them go? We can relate! That’s why we love pressing flowers to preserve their beauty. Simply flatten out your flowers between the pages of a hefty book and let them stay there for a few days. Then, you can take them out and carefully place them atop a blank card, a flat bookmark base, or cardstock.
For DIYs like cards and bookmarks, you can carefully glue the flower petals down before sealing or laminating them. If you’re looking to make a larger decor piece, you can add flowers to cardstock before placing the finished spread behind a frame or shadow box.
Experiment (Safely) With Resin

Although it requires a learning curve and some safety precautions, DIY resin art is becoming increasingly popular due to its longevity and the potential for full-fledged creativity.
Preserving flowers with resin can lead to unique decor pieces of all kinds, from paperweights and coasters to trinket trays and custom molds. You can even mix in some color, glitter, gold flakes, and other ‘toppings’ of your choosing to get the perfect blend. Just be sure to wear appropriate safety gear, do your research, ventilate your space, and always read the instructions!
Handcrafted Bath Products

Fresh soaps, candles, salts, and floating petals can really elevate a nice bath. There are dozens of DIY guides about how to make each of these products from scratch, even if you’re inexperienced with the science. Adding some flower petals to your concoction definitely adds a bit of luxury into the mix.
If you’d prefer to leave the formulas to the experts, however, you can always just sprinkle some petals into an already-drawn bath!
Make Your Own Flowers

If all else fails or you simply prefer the everlasting art of handmade flowers, you can always play around with your own crafting materials! Whether you use tissue paper, construction paper, a magazine collage, or any other household items you have on hand, there are countless ways to make do with any scraps or craft items that might be laying around.
